White Embden Goose Tea Cosy

This new tea cosy design is inspired by a delightful goose I met last year named Bruce. How adorable is that? Bruce the goose!

We visited a donkey sanctuary, which housed many other animals, but it was Bruce who truly stole the show. He had a fascination with shoe laces, and if you stood nearby with exposed laces, Bruce would give them a peck and a tug. It was quite amusing, and no one really knows why he loves laces so much. While he was busy with your laces, you could stroke him, and his snowy white feathers felt incredibly soft. It was such a joy to be able to touch him. I could have taken him home, he was so adorable. So, this tea cosy is dedicated to Bruce.

The main cosy will be knitted in white, representing the body of the goose. I might add some grass at the bottom to give the appearance of the bird standing. The tail won't be too much of a problem, and for the wings, I'll create just the feathery ends to hint at them, as the spout and handle openings will be in the middle of his side.

The neck and head will be the most challenging part, as it requires quite a bit of support and is a high elevation in knitting terms. I might need to incorporate some structural support.

I love Bruce's bright orange feet and beak; they will add character and brighten up the design.
