Guard your goodies with a grinning ghoul; this skeleton cosy keeps sweets safe and he’s got a bone to pick… with anyone who dares steal your chocolates.
After last year’s Halloween Spider Sweet Box Cover, I couldn’t resist conjuring up another spooky cosy for a standard 600g tub of Quality Street. I wanted to add a chilly thrill to the treats, so I imagined a creepy skeleton guarding the goodies, his skull peeking ominously from the sweets and his bony fingers curling over the rim like he’s ready to snatch the last caramel swirl.
To help bring the vision to life, I asked AI to whip up a few images that capture what’s rattling around in my head. The box itself feels coffin-esque; wooden in appearance, but really just a disguise for the plastic tub beneath. The outer cosy will wrap around it like a haunted hug.
For the bones, I’m leaning toward Parchment yarn, it has that aged, slightly grubby look that’s perfect for old bones fresh from the crypt. The only design hazard? Hand bones that accidentally resemble a string of link sausages. That’s a fright I’d rather avoid!
It’s such a treat to be knitting spooky again. I loved last year’s sweet box cosy, and I’m hoping this one will be just as fun to stitch and just as delightfully eerie.
