TeaCosyFolk's Knitting Vlog for May 2026

Welcome back to the TeaCosyFolk Knitting Vlog for May; a month of bright ideas, playful designs and a few surprises slipping off the needles. I love sharing the stories behind each cosy as they take shape, and this month has been full of character, colour and creative mischief.

May Knitting Vlog

The new On the Needles videos are a closer look at the characters growing on my needles this month, from first sketches to shaping and finishing details. You can find the full On the Needles playlist on YouTube in the On the Needles playlist.

The Banana Skin Chocolate Orange Cosy is perfect for pranksters and jokers. It is a playful little sculptural piece and this one will be sure to slip off your needles. You can find the pattern on the TeaCosyFolk website on the Banana Skin Chocolate Orange Cosy page.

TeaCosyFolk’s World Cup Goal tea cosy knitting pattern can be found exclusively in Simply Knitting issue 277, which will be in UK shops from 12 May 2026. To see more TeaCosyFolk patterns that have appeared in magazines, visit the TeaCosyFolk magazine patterns page. If you knit this cosy, email Simply Knitting a photo, they love to see photos of their patterns knitted up by readers. Their email address is simplyknitting@ourmedia.co.uk

The Unicorn Chocolate Orange Cosy knitting pattern, which was first featured in the knitting pattern calendar for 2025, will be on the website from 28 May and will land on the New Arrivals page first. You will find it on the New Arrivals page.

If you would like to be the first to hear about new designs, you can join the TeaCosyFolk newsletter and never miss a new knitting pattern by signing up to the TeaCosyFolk newsletter.

The fabulous Three-Toed Sloth tea cosy pattern will be available as a digital download from 21 May. You can find the pattern on the Three-Toed Sloth tea cosy page. If you need a little help with i cords, the i cord help video, where I demonstrate how to knit an i cord on straight needles and on double pointed needles, can be viewed on YouTube in the i cord help video.

23 May is National Tea Cosy Day. It is a lovely excuse to get your teapots dressed in their best tea cosies and share a photo on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or wherever you like to post. Include the hashtag #NationalTeaCosyDay so we can all find each other. For more information about this national celebration, visit the National Tea Cosy Day Facebook page.

I am only just starting the Cinema Usherette tea cosy, but the character is already beginning to form in my mind, the uniform, the torch, the sense of theatre. I will be uploading a blog post about the design and my inspiration on the Cinema Usherette tea cosy design blog post.

TeaCosyFolk will be doing the Chocolate Orange Knitting Pattern Subscription again in 2027. More details about this fun knit along will be added to the website in September, so watch this space for more information. If you are interested to know how it works, you can read about the 2026 subscription on the 2026 Chocolate Orange Cosy Subscription page.

This month’s knitting tip was showing you how to sew things to your tea cosy from the inside, so the stitches stay hidden and the details look neatly anchored in place. For more knitting tips, visit the Cosy Companion Guidebook or the Tea Cosy Tips page.

The Punk Tiger Tea Cosy knitting pattern will be on the website on 18 June, but in the meantime you can read all about this stripy, spiky character on the Punk Tiger tea cosy blog post and watch the On the Needles update video about it in the Punk Tiger On the Needles video.
