Description

Ok the Gargoyle tea cosy might well be a Grotesque tea cosy, but I think the name gargoyle is more commonly known, and is instantly recognisable.

Gargoyles traditionally adorn buildings as part of the gutterings, but people have taken the humble gargoyles to their heart and into their homes and gardens, and now they can adorn their teapots with gargoyles.

Gargoyles are so characterful, I particularly like the ugly or mischievous ones that stick their tongues out and pick their noses or worst. I tried to capture gargoyle character in the tea cosy design.

This is an ugly, winged gargoyle with a piggy nose and big ears. He has lion-like legs and a scary expression. His mouth is open wide bearing his fangs. He's knitted in all grey with just a small amount of black. I wanted to keep him as stone like as possible.

I went for the scary expression because of the gothic theme. I thought the scary look would be more appealing. He'd be perfect for a Halloween tea cosy.

For grotesque tea parties, use a gargoyle tea cosy.
