Description

The Persian Christmas Bauble tea cosy was designed for the Simply Knitting Magazine issue 244 which goes on sale on the 2nd November 2023.

In The Nutcracker ballet, there is a part where Christmas decorations from other nations dance, and one of the dances is Persian and so I designed a tea cosy that was inspired by Persian style Christmas baubles. I love the deep, rich colours, shapely forms and swirls, and I wanted to create this into a tea cosy.

The main part of the tea cosy featured a swirl like appearance which looks amazing but is actually really easy to knit. The texture of the knitting on the main cosy, emphasises the swirl. The two tones of green give the impression of a Christmas tree.

At the bottom of the cosy is a ‘plinth’ like base, with big billowy dark red spots that look like jewels.

There is a big finial on top in a bauble like form and from this, hangs down smaller baubles and mini baubles.

It’s a wonderfully unusual Christmas tea cosy and it has an exotic appearance and fabulous details, it's perfect for a more sophisticated teatime.

As a free gift, when you order the Persian Christmas Bauble Tea Cosy knitting pattern you will also receive the Persian Christmas Bauble Chocolate Cosy knitting pattern. A sweet treat that you can knit to accompany your teapot or to knit and and gift at Christmas.

Swirling around, the Christmas tea, Have a happy holiday.
