Mammogram Tea Cosy Knitting Pattern

At some point in our lives, ladies have to visit the breast clinic for a mammogram to have our breasts screened. Whether it's a routine check or another reason, it is quite daunting and a little bit scary, especially the first time. This inspired me to design the mammogram tea cosy and a bit of comfort that pokes fun at having the mammogram procedure done.

For people who don't know what the procedure involves, you have to remove your upper clothing and then your breasts are put between two plates that compress them.

The mammogram lady tea cosy has already had a mammogram, you can tell because her breasts are flat. (Just so you know, this is more of a feeling that you have than the actual reality of having the test done). It's just a visual giggle at how it makes you feel, and it's reassuring to know that most people who have had the test feel like this afterwards.

The lady is dressed in pink, because pink is the colour of breast cancer awareness. She is also wearing a pink ribbon, another nod towards cancer awareness.

With October being breast cancer week in the UK, I thought it would be a lovely tea cosy to bring out and use every October. It's a nice reminder of the importance of breast screening and how many lives it saves.

There is a tricky bit in this knitting pattern where you create the pleats in the bottom of the skirt. I have made a help video that is available on Youtube to help you.
