Animated Tea Cosy

Description

I love animals and hippos are such great characters with unusual faces; a hippo is perfect to make into a tea cosy.

I wanted my hippopotamus tea cosy to have a realistic look rather than looking like a child's toy that looks cute. So I studied photos of hippos when I sketched my design.

I wanted to give my Hippo a gaping mouth and have its teeth visible. I think hippos look incredible with their mouths open, they look so intimidating. I didn't go for the full on gape, and instead have made the lower jaw just falling away; relaxing.

I have stood the hippo on a nice grassy patch on the bank. The grass part of the cosy has a lovely stitch that gives the impression of long grass.

The hippo cosy is a lovely tea cosy to knit and it's quite quick to make.

The hippo tea cosy is perfect for people who love a hippo-potoftea-mus!
