This tea cosy was inspired by steam trains running through a winter wonderland.

One of my favourite Christmas films is the Polar Express. I think we have a nostalgic view of snow covered landscapes and stream trains.

This tea cosy has a little steam train weaving its way through frozen trees. The trees are worked in cable and were inspired by the tree of life style blankets. the trees are knitted with a sparkly yarn to give them that frozen, frosted look.

The little steam train runs around the bottom of the cosy on its own little ridge. There is one locomotive with smoke coming out from the chimney and behind it's pulling three carriages. The wheels of the train are little buttons.

There is a very small amount of intarsia work on the carriages and train cab, but it's very limited and is just to create the windows. Easy enough for a beginner to have a try at.

There are a few stars or snowflakes in the frosty blue sky that are embroidered on with sparkly yarn and give the cosy an extra touch of frostiness.

The Winter Wonderland Steam Train tea cosy is a great Christmas tea cosy that makes an alternative change from the usual Christmas tea cosies.

Dashing through a winter wonderland in a steam train - is it the Santa Express?
