The Cheeseburger tea cosy was designed for the Simply Knitting Magazine issue 265 which goes on sale on the 12th June 2025.

The cheeseburger tea cosy was inspired by a small but delightful key fob, won at a penny arcade machine last summer. The moment I saw it, I knew it would make the perfect teapot cover; fun, quirky, and packed with character.

This tea cosy is a towering masterpiece of burger goodness, featuring layers of crisp lettuce, juicy tomato slices, two prime beefburgers, and a slice of cheese melting perfectly over the edges, all nestled in a classic sesame seed bun.

Designed for ease, most of the cosy is knitted as you go, keeping sewing to a minimum. To help with trickier elements, there are YouTube tutorial videos demonstrating how to attach the lettuce and cheese, as well as how to shape those beautifully curved beefburgers for an authentic look.

Knitted in Stylecraft Special DK, this cosy captures every delicious detail, with sesame seeds embroidered onto the bun afterward for the final finishing touch. A perfect project for food lovers and fans of fast food fun, this cheeseburger tea cosy is not only full of character; it’s calorie-free and packed with fibre.
