Animated Tea Cosy

Description

The vintage pilot tea cosy was based on old traditional stereotypes of pilots during World War One. For a bit of extra fun, there is a biplane flying over head, bit is ok; its one of ours.

This is a tea cosy with a very big statement. Below you have a traditional looking pilot in a sheepskin flying jacket edged with fleece. He's wearing an aviation helmet on his head and his flying goggles. The flying goggles have button lenses in them and can be pulled down over his eyes when he's 'Going in'. Blowing out behind him is a scarf, that stands and looks as if its blowing in the wind.

Flying above him, by aid of a bamboo knitting needle is an old fashioned biplane. As you would expect it has two wings on each side and the propeller is made from a clear disc of plastic to give the impression of the prop turning at speed. The knob on the bamboo knitting needle forms the head of the little pilot flying the plane.

It's a great tea cosy to knit, it's fun and quirky and perfect for the avation season when they hold all the Airshows.

The 7 page knitting pattern is easy to follow and has photos to help and guide you to knit your own charming vintage pilot tea cosy.

Personally I love his handlebar mustache, it just give him lots of vintage character.

By Jove, a stirling tea cosy for any Vintage Pilots teapot!
