Description

The Photographer tea cosy was inspired by Victorian photographers that took photos of people looking super serious whilst they hid under a sheet and told them to watch the 'birdie'. How did the people in the photo keep a straight face?

So this photographer is there with his old camera on a tripod. He is bent over so that he can look through the view, and his bottom is sticking out behind him. We can't see his head because he's under the blackout sheet.

On the top of the camera is a 'birdie'. In the Victorian times the bird would have been made of brass, but I thought a little blue bird would be much more cheery.

I love the tips of his shoes poking out from his trousers on either side of the tripod legs, they make it feel like he's actually stood there.

This is an easy tea cosy to make and it looks brilliant and gives a lovely nod to a bygone age and celebrates the start of the photographic phenomenon.

Keep still, Say cheese and watch the birdie!
