Animated Tea Cosy

Description

The Mayflower Pilgrims were puritans that traveled on the Mayflower from England to America to settle in 1620, and the Mayflower Pilgrims tea cosy commemorates that event.

It's an epic tea cosy with lots going on. The main part of the tea cosy is the lady pilgrim's skirt, she is dressed in dark red and has the year embroidered on her apron. In her arms she holds a baby dressed in blue and wearing a white bonnet. Behind her is her husband who is dressed in the costume of the time.

I have given the man and woman a smile, though in reality after a long voyage on the Mayflower and with so many of the pilgrims dying along the way, I suspect that they weren't feeling very jolly.

Behind the pilgrims is a turkey as a nod towards thanksgiving. I have made the turkey to be quite flat so that he doesn't stand out too much from the main cosy.

The man, lady and baby could easily be made as dolls. If you were to knit a the pattern for the legs in white with brown shoes, they could be sew to the underside of the center top of the skirt.

Mayflower Pilgrims tea cosy is a lovey way to remember and celebrate the leaving or the arrival of the pilgrims. It's a great project to knit with lots of details, and looks fantastic.

Put the kettle on for the Mayflower Pilgrims!
