Description

Who doesn't love ducks? And the most common duck in the UK is the Mallard, so I thought I'd design a tea cosy of a male Mallard duck, I chose the male because they are more colourful with that lovely green head and blue detailing on the wings. I have tried to make the mallard tea cosy to look as realistic as possible rather than a duck caricature.

Mallard Duck tea cosy is a lovely pattern what is quite quick to make. He's designed to look like he's swimming along, so he hasn't got any legs of feet. His head it upright and his wings and tail stand up from the main cosy.

He's knitted with Stylecraft Special DK yarns and the main part of the cosy is knitted with double thickness yarn to keep the teapot insulated.

People have been using duck down to keep things warm for years, so it seems very fitting to have a duck tea cosy.

You could of course when the duck in other colour ways to create a American Pekin duck tea cosy or a Khaki Campbell duck tea cosy for example.

Its a lovely tea cosy for duck collectors and people who love wildfowl; of for people who enjoy visiting rivers and lakes and watching the ducks.
