I was inspired by cute faced things to create this cute faced blue whale tea cosy. He's very simple and looks so cheery with his happy face and rosy cheeks.

At the bottom of the cosy is a wave design. It might look like intarsia or Fair Isle, but it's actually knitted in stripes, and is as easy as knitting stripes.

To stop the hump in the top of the tea cosy, where the teapot lid pokes up, there is a piece inside the tea cosy to accommodate the lid's knob. It gives the whale a lovely smooth finish to the top.

The whale tail sticks up at the back. It's smaller than you'd expect for the size of the whale, and it adds to the cuteness.

It's a lovely quick and easy tea cosy that feels summery and jolly. Perfect for people who love whale watching.

Having a whale of a time!
