The narrowboat tea cosy is inspired by the rising popularity of the British Inland Waterways and canal boat holidays. The tea cosy has traditionally canal boat colours, dark green and bright red and yellow. The roof has a tin chimney, brass coloured air vents and a decorated pigeon box with button porthole windows. The boat also has bow and button fenders in case of any boating accidents. The spout of the teapot becomes the tiller for the boat. The hull of the narrowboat tea cosy is turned up onto itself, giving super insulation, the difference between a lovely cup of tea and a cold cup of canal water!

Keep tea hot canal boat style, the narrowboat tea cosy allows you to get through a lock and still come back to a piping hot cup of tea for skipper and crew.

This Tea Cosy:

  • is made from double thickness yarn for extra insulation
  • fits a medium sized teapot that holds 6 to 8 cups or 2 pints

Sue Barrett who bought the pattern from TeaCosyFolk website

A tiny bit disappointed with the final instructions for making up. I loved knitting it, but I feel that my finished boat looks a bit like a gondola! fine as my son has his boat on a canal near the Venice of the Midlands!
