Animated Tea Cosy

Description

The Big Fish tea cosy was designed for the Simply Knitting Magazine issue 199 which went on sale on the 21st May 2020.

With the fishing season coming up and with Father's day just around the corner, I was inspired to create a fish tea cosy. But I didn't want tiddlers swimming around the cosy, I thought it would be amusing to have a big fish that looked as if it had swallowed the teapot.

Not really modeled on any particular breed of fish; the fish cosy has big yellow lips, and a green body. To create the appearance of scales I knitted the main part of the cosy in a textured stitch.

So that the fish isn't simply round, there is some structure inside the cosy to give the tail end a more tapered look.

The tail, fins and eyes are knitted separately and sewn on.

The Big Fish Tea Cosy is a fun and unusual tea cosy that is perfect for people who love fish or fishing.

You can find the knitting pattern for the Big Fish tea cosy in Simply Knitting Magazine issue 199. The pattern will be available to buy direct from TeaCosyFolk on 21st December 2020.

A whopper of a tea cosy!
