Genie and his Lamp Tea Cosy

Description

The Genie and his Lamp tea cosy was designed for the Simply Knitting Magazine issue 245 which goes on sale on the 28th November 2023.

Inspired by the story of Aladdin, I have designed a tea cosy of the Genie, the slave of the lamp with magical powers. I imagined the Genie to be wearing a fez and a matching waistcoat. On his wrists are armlets to symbolise that he is a slave.

I love the way that his body tails off as if he's a ghost or a wisp and I think his body colour makes him really stand out against the gold colour of the main cosy.

He's a fun tea cosy to knit and perfect for Panto season; 'Oh yes he is!'
