Description

I love all the fun and spookiness of Halloween and I thought a vampire tea cosy would be fun to make so I designed the Count Dracula tea cosy.

My inspiration behind the tea cosy was old Christopher Lee movies. I wanted to create a vampire with all the expected elements. He has a big black cloak with a standing collar. He's trying to be inconspicuous so he's using his cape to hide his identity by holding it over his arm. Vampires are always smartly dressed in a shirt and bow tie, with hair all back and prominent fangs.

I used orange cats’ eyes to give him evil looking eyes, and knitted him some thick set eyebrows to make him look menacing.

The bottom of the cloak is knitted first, and then knitted onto the main tea cosy part so that it looks seamlessly joined and remains super stretchy. There is a link to a Youtube video included in the knitting pattern to help you with this tricky bit.

He’s a fun tea cosy to knit and looks great, it’s nice to have something a bit scary on the teapot for fright night.

A Tea-rafying Halloween tea cosy.
