Description

Sherlock Holmes is the renowned deerstalker wearing detective who may or may not have smoked a calabash pipe. This Sherlock Holmes tea cosy has all the classic features that we associate with Arthur Conan Doyle's character including the deerstalker, calabash pipe and magnifying glass. The Tea Cosy has Sherlock dressed in a tweed Victorian style coat with leather look buttons.

This Tea Cosy:

  • is made from double thickness yarn for extra insulation
  • fits a medium sized teapot that holds 6 to 8 cups or 2 pints
  • has removable parts just for fun

What you will need to make the pattern

3mm, UK size 11 knitting needles,
4.00 mm, UK size 8 or US size 6 Knitting needles,
5.5 mm, UK size 5 or US size 9 knitting needles,
100g Brown Double knitting wool,
50g Tan double knitting wool,
20g Black double knitting wool,
Small amount of Schoeller + Stahl Silver yarn
Stuffing
4x 15mm Leather looking buttons
1x 25mm transparent button.

4.00 mm, UK size 8 or US size 6 double pointed needles for knitting an icord. You can use regular knitting needles but double ended pins make it easier. Both methods are explained.
